Welcome to the Camping Opémiska !!!
The Opemiska camping site is one of the most popular in the area
because of the quality of its landscape around the banks of Lake Opemiska. The view
of the majestic "Mountain of the Mummy" is a reflexion of this unique southern part
of … Northern Quebec! Take the direction of the Mummy and you will arrive at the native
community of Ouje-Bougoumou, recognized by the United Nations as an example in urban
development that respects the origins of its inhabitants. A place to discover on the
banks of Lake Opemiska.
The proximity of fishing lakes also makes the Opemiska camping site an ideal place
to stay for amateurs of walleye and pike fishing, as well as outdoors fans in general.
In fact, the camping provides accomodation for 52 seasonal campers and for more
than 35 daily campsites offered to passing tourists. On site, in addition to
providing the habitual commodities for this type of camping site, you will easily
have access to the lake because of the proximity of the dock as well as a beautiful
golden beach for swimming, to the great pleasure of the entire family.
The Opemiska camping site is situated at less than 10 km west of the town of Chapais
where you will find all you may need (groceries, fuel, propane, fishing gear, CLSC, etc.).
To reach it, follow the indications along Route 113; at this intersection, there are
only a few hundred meters separating you from a stay with us! In place, you will have
direct access to the Official site of the James Bay Walleye Fishing Tournament since it
is situated right next to the camping's installations, making it easy for everyone to
get into the celebration spirit that surrounds the event!
